Chris is survived by his loving wife Sarah, mother Carol, father Bruce, brother Kendall (Marita), grandmother Dorothy Fogelberg, uncle Ken Fogelberg (Linda), uncle Jim Bird (Sheila), uncle Harry (Lori), aunt Janice Gallagher (Tom), mother-in-law Carol Ann Matthey, brothers-in-law John (Kylie), Patrick (Michelle), Tony (Libby), John (Kerry), Michael (Karen), Jason and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Chris was predeceased by his grandfather Joseph Bird in 1992, grandmother Florence Bird in 1998 and his grandfather Howard Fogelberg in 1999. Chris attended Margaret Underhill, Arthur Day and Murdoch MacKay schools in Transcona. He became a child of God when he was baptized as an infant by Pastor Frederick Koehler of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd April 22, 1979. He attended Sunday School, confirmation classes and was confirmed April 4, 1993 by Pastor Koehler. His confirmation verse was Rev. 2:10 Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of Life. Chris attended University of Winnipeg in his first year and at age of 20 moved to Edmonton and attended University of Alberta, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and also served a one year internship in pain management at Millard Health Clinic. He then took a 30 month course in acupuncture at Grant McEwan College and upon completion accepted a job at a clinic in Brisbane, Australia. Chris met and married the love of his life Sarah on March 1, 2008 at King's Beach, Caloundra. They were very happy together. While Chris was still in Edmonton, he dedicated his life to his Lord and was baptized as an adult on March 26, 2006 by Pastor Sam Nikkel at McKernan Baptist Church where he made many friends and led a young adult group in bible study, organizing camping trips, softball and floor hockey teams. Chris had many interests including hockey, baseball, cooking, hiking, tennis, music, movies, travel and above all people. Only God knows what anguish and pain he suffered in his final hours on earth and though God did not call him, God welcomed him. Until we meet again Chris, we will miss you very much. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Ave. W., July 28, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Karl Koslowsky officiating.
