PHILIP SIDNEY MASON (PHIL) With his family around him Dad was reunited with his wife Ann on July 23, 2008. Left behind to mourn him are his daughters Debbie Wall (Willy), Donna Volkar (Frank) and his granddaughter Chelsea Volkar (the apple of his eye), his sister Gladys Watt (Len) and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Born October 6, 1917, Dad was raised on the family homestead. Dad's main job was at Domtar packaging where he retired in 1982. Dad enlisted in 1942 and joined the Lake Superior Regiment (Motor). He served in Great Britain and Europe until the end of the war. Dad married Ann Johnson in Athlone, Ireland and after returning from the war settled down to raise a family. Dad was active in his children's life taking us out for Halloween, tobogganing. We looked forward to our two week summer vacation in Killarney. Dad enjoyed helping others bowling, fishing and playing crib. Later in life Dad enjoyed being a Grandpa (Pop Up) and was good at it. Dad, you worked hard for everything in life. We love you and are proud of you. And we will be together again some day. Funeral services will be held at The Assiniboine Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Ave., July 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Gordon Shields officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation to Parkinson Society or charity of one's choice.
