Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRTLE LORETTA CHAMBERS - HARDISTY Unexpectedly, after a long struggle with her health, Myrtle passed away on July 26, 2008 at the age of 74 in St. Boniface Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Agnes Hardisty; her brothers Donald Jr. and Cyril Hardisty and sisters, Shirley Done, Dorothy Thorpe and Christine Dueck. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Karen Chambers (Everet Hourie) and her grandson Dakota Chambers-Hourie whom she affectionately called Cody . She also leaves two sisters Mina Favel of Thunder Bay, ON and Ruby (Harold) Sandberg of Prince George, BC. Myrtle or Dots as her family affectionately called her, had a very full life. She was born in Dynevor Hospital, and lived in various places with her family, Bissett, Hole River and then her parents bought a small house in Selkirk, MB where she resided until she was in her 30s. During that time she worked tirelessly at many places, Selkirk Mental Hospital and Dinette Restaurant. Once she started her own family she moved to Winnipeg where she worked at Misericordia Hospital in the dining room until her health started to decline. She struggled with health issues for some time and was strong enough to start work with Continental Caters which she enjoyed for many years. After health issues stopped her work career, she enjoyed her trips downtown and to the Forks, she was always on the go. The library and bookstores were her favourite haunts. She was an avid reader and could read many books in a week. She enjoyed riding the transit buses and seeing the city. On good days she would travel from one end of the city to the other. In summer she loved going to the Farmers' Market in St. Norbert, it thrilled her to have so many homemade products to remind her of her childhood and meet new and old friends. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at 6:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with cremation to follow. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. also in the chapel with interment of ashes to follow at the St. Peter's Cemetery. How sweet to sleep where all is peace, where sorrow cannot reach the breast. Where all life's idle throbbing cease and pain is lulled to rest. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
