ROBERT LORNE MALCOLM February 1, 1926 - July 27, 2008 It is with great sadness that the families of Lorne announce his passing away peacefully at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital on July 27, 2008 with his loving wife Elsie and family at his side. Lorne was born and grew up on the farm in Scotch Bay, MB Lorne was predeceased by his mother Marian and father Archie, his ex-wife Marian Butler and his ten siblings. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Elsie, his children, Keith (Wendy) and daughter Marilyn (Randy), four children and five great- grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his step-children Donna (Rick), Lorne (Lynn), Len (Gail) and Ila (Ernie) and their families. As a young man, he joined the Navy, took his training is Saskatoon and served his country in Halifax, NS for two years. Lorne joined the Winnipeg Fire Department in July of 1949 and retired January 22 of 1990 after 40 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was an Assistant Deputy Chief. Lorne loved his work and was proud to be a fireman. In 1996 he met Elsie Boss (nee Weatherburn) and later were married and enjoyed their 12 years together. They were both members of the Eriksdale New Horizons and Legion #140. During this time together they enjoyed going to old time dances, playing cards at the Horizons Club, long drives in the country and winters in Yuma, Arizona. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the Eriksdale Recreational Centre with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the hall. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Derek Boss, Arnold Larson, Doug Atchison, Scott Atchison, Kenneth Malcolm and Bob Joyce. Special thanks to the staff of the Personal Care Home in Eriksdale where Lorne lived for the past two years. Their tender love and care was much appreciated by Lorne and his families. Also sincere thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff and Dr. Rahman and Dr. Arara at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorne's memory may be made to the Firefighter's Burn Fund, 303-83 Garry St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4J9 or to the Eriksdale Personal Care Home in care of Gerry Kaartinen, P.O.
