DOROTHY MARGARET MILLER (ROSS) May 14, 1925 - July 28, 2008 Dorothy passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre with her family at her side at the age of 83. Mom will be reunited with Dad in heaven. Dorothy was born in Cypress River, MB. When Dorothy and Charlie started their family, she chose to stay at home and raise her children, but soon after she went back to work. She worked at the Cadham Laboratory until retiring in 1993. She was a lifetime member of the John Osborne ANAF No. 1 and was recently nominated honorary president. For 16 years she was head of both the Entertainment and the Sick and Visiting Committees and never missed helping out with the children's Christmas parties each year. She spent many dedicated hours preparing the special dinners for the Deer Lodge veterans. Also she enjoyed Bingo, horse racing and all our family gatherings. She had such a will to live life to the fullest while battling cancer in this last year. Mom will be in our hearts forever and deeply missed by her children Marvin (Raynelle), Sandra (Denis), Glen, Darryl (Tannis), grandchildren Kelly (Chris), Trevor (Catherine), Daniel (Marsha), Nicole (Matt), Simon, Ivan and great grandchildren Kory, Kaitlin, Owen, Alana and Noah and also numerous nieces and nephews. You can shed tears that I am gone Or you can smile because I have lived. You can close your eyes and pray that I will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that I have left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see me Or you can be full of the love that we shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember me and only that I am gone Or you can cherish my memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what I would want: smile, open your eyes, love, and go on. The family would like to thank the home care nurses Diane and Mary, Palliative Care nurses Jan, Rachel and Kate and Riverview Health Centre for their excellent care and compassion. Service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Rev. Gordon Shields officiating. A reception will follow at John Osborne Unit No. 1 Army and Navy, Ellice and Empress (300 Ellice Ave.). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
