MORLEY EARL NELSON Morley Earl Nelson, aged 81 years, passed away peacefully July 29, 2008 at Victoria General Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer and heart disease. Morley was born March 1, 1927 in Neepawa, Manitoba to Robert and Elizabeth Nelson. He was the youngest of seven children and is predeceased by his parents, three sisters Helen, Olive and Marion and three brothers Lawrence, Bruce and Orval. He attended school at Inkerman District School, Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute and afterwards Success Business College in Winnipeg. Morley received a commission in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles (Reserve) in 1948. He met, fell in love and married Helen Sawatzky July 11, 1953. They lived in Winnipeg until 1956 when they moved to Regina. They lived there raising their three daughters, Jacqueline, Brenda and Pam until 1966 when they moved back to Winnipeg, settling in Transcona. In 1998 they moved to Calgary where they remained until September 2006 when they moved back to Winnipeg. During his working life, Morley was employed by Mackie Travel Service (1944); Canadian Liquid Air Co., Cockshutt Farm Equipment, Groff Agency Ltd., as a sales representative by McBrine Luggage Co. and Cooper Canada Ltd. He played baseball and hockey as a young man, switching to golf, curling and bridge with Helen in 'The Bridge Club' Friday or Saturday evenings. He is survived and greatly missed by wife Helen, daughters, Jacqueline, Brenda (Jay) of Calgary and Pam (Ed) of Calgary and grandchildren, Devin, Jaime Raye and Sarah. If people so desire, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Heart Foundation in lieu of flowers in his memory. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, August 2, 2008 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
