G. EDNA EDMUNDS (SOLOMON)
Date of Passing: Jul 31, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryG. EDNA EDMUNDS (nee SOLOMON) Peacefully, after a long illness, G. Edna Edmunds went to be with her Lord on July 31, 2008. Edna was born in Shoal Lake, Manitoba and was raised on a farm close by. She attended school in Shoal Lake and was active in Sunday School, C.G.I.T. and other church activities. After public school, Edna attended Normal School and taught near Alexander for two and a half years. She then moved to Winnipeg where she accepted a position in the main office of the Canadian Bank of Commerce. Edna and Gordon Edmunds were married in May 1942 and made their home in St. Vital. They had two children, Faith Carolyn and Gordon David. David predeceased them in 1986. Edna was also predeceased by her husband Gordon of 60 years in May 2002, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Bob) Kosowan; brother Bob Sherwood; brother-in-law Stan (Connie) Edmunds; sister-in-law Lorraine Solomon, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gordon and Edna became residents of the Wellington in 1995 where Edna continued to reside. Edna was a full-time Mom, using every circumstance and opportunity to teach her children life's lessons. Most importantly she faced each of life's difficulties (and there were many) with an immovable faith - often saying It will be interesting to see how God works out this situation and always Thy Will Be Done . His will was done and she is now with Him. Edna always loved a trick or practical joke and was often the center of planning same. She loved to bring a smile to others - so don't mourn - Praise God for her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edna's memory to Faith To Live By - P.O. Box 426, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2H6. Thank you to the Wellington staff and residents and to the dedicated caring staff of St. Boniface Hospital on 6A South. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. The funeral service will be held at the Wellington, 3161 Grant Ave. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. with reception to follow.
