She returned to Canada and trained as a flight attendant with Canadian Airlines. Her love of travel led her to change her home base to Peru where she enjoyed many adventures and met some wonderful friends. After her time there she returned to Vancouver where her work took her to the Orient. When her health deteriorated she returned to Winnipeg to be closer to family. She was artistic and creative in all she did whether in entertaining, photography or decorating her home with flair . She had a great sense of humor, loved practical jokes and had a great zest for life. She had a positive attitude even when adversity entered her life. She met her health problems with strength and determination. Val taught us that life is to be celebrated and cherished. A service of remembrance and celebration will take place on Tuesday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Our deepest appreciation goes to the staff at Poseidon Care Home and Dr. Smart for their care and kindness that they gave to Val during her stay there. I met Val when she was a regular guest at McNally Robinson. She showed me all kinds of photos from her days of travel :) She couldnt speak well, we had our own dialogue. After i left the Cafe Val and i met for dinner and a movie and i wish i had maintained more of a close friendship with her. She was fabulous. I've wondered of her and if she was still with us. I'm saddened to see she has passed, but happy to know she's in a better place fully mobile to be free as a bird. RIP Val, you won't ever be forgotten. - Posted by: Bronwyn (Friend) on: Dec 10, 2012
