Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK PAUL ZACK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Zack, aged 45 at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, August 2, 2008. Fred will be dearly missed by his brother Wally; his sister Diane and her husband Brad Sacher; his nephews, Braden, Kyle and David Sacher and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his father Paul in 2000 and his mother Therese in 2001. Fred was born in Winnipeg on January 5, 1963. After graduating from the Transcona Collegiate, he began a career in the automotive industry. He worked for many years for the Birchwood Automotive Group, with his last position in sales at the former Birchwood Motorsports. Fred's career was interrupted several times by serious health problems, but those experiences led to his involvement in hospital charity work. For several years he volunteered at Children's Hospital, for the Variety Club, and ensured that the children spending Christmas at St. Boniface Hospital were visited by Santa. Fred also enjoyed photography, and several people he met through his hobby became lifelong friends. He also enjoyed the outdoors and found many hours of relaxation on the water fishing and boating. Fred had an incredibly positive attitude, even when adversity entered his life. He met his numerous health problems with astonishing strength and courage. His gentle and kind demeanour and attitude towards life earned him many wonderful lifelong friends who will sadly miss him. There were many people who helped Fred along his journey. We would like to express our deepest thanks to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and kindness, in particular Dr. David Rush and the team at the Transplant Clinic, Dr. Justin Wong and the team at MICU, and the many dedicated and compassionate staff on Unit D4. Prayer service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour, MB. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008 also at the chapel. Rev. Fr. Walter Klimchuk will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 200 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or the Kidney Foundation of Canada - Manitoba Branch, Unit 1 - 452 Dovercourt Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3Y 2K8. Fred was the strongest person I ever met. He always had such a good attitude no matter how bad his health was. I thought a lot of him over the years, even more since I became diabetic. I asked Fred one day what did u ever do to deserve this. He said I wonder that all the time but he said God only dishes out what a person can handle. Fred handled more than I ever could. Fred was such a good friend. I miss u all the time. I wish u could have met my daughter Addison. Miss u. - Posted by: charlene (close friend) on: Jul 23, 2014
