DONALD CRAIG 1915 - 2008 Donald Robert Craig died peacefully at Riverview Health Centre after a very enjoyable and satisfying 92 years. Don was born in the Ottawa Valley near Russell, Ontario on a dairy farm. He took up cheese making and operated cheese plants in the area. In 1947 he was taken on as an inspector with Agriculture Canada and in 1961 was promoted to a position in Toronto as a dairy produce grader. In 1965 he accepted a job in Winnipeg where he would be in charge of the Dairy Division Office for Manitoba. In 1944 Donald married Helen Shaw of Vars, Ontario. Their son Bill lives in Prescott, Ontario and their daughter Brenda lives in Winnipeg. There are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Don and Helen had 30 years of summer enjoyment at their island cottage in Lake of the Woods and in retirement they had 20 years as winter Texans in Weslaco resulting in a great number of friends throughout Canada and the U.S.A. Dad loved to talk and visit with people. Don was predeceased by three brothers. A sister still lives in the Ottawa Valley. The family would like to thank Dr. Mare and the staff at the Linden Ridge Medical Centre for the year by year care they provided and the staff at Riverview Stroke Rehab for their support in Donald's last days. Cremation had taken place and a private family interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
