WILLIAM (BILL) TROCHIM It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we the family announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) with his family by his side on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Dad is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Stella; his children, Lyle, Jan (Alan), Diane (Ken), Karen (Brian) and Russ (Noreen); grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Darah, Mitchell, Brittany and Alexe; siblings, Nell, Peter (Stella), Leonard (Reva), Dan (Elaine); extended family, nieces, nephews and his lifetime friend Peter Charne. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Lena; daughter Gail; sisters, Olga and Julia and brothers, Mike and Joe. Dad was born February 8, 1928 in Libau, MB. Dad received his education in Libau before moving to the big city where he met and married his loving wife Stella on July 12, 1952. Dad spent his career as a plumber and was very proud of his membership in the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for over 50 years. Dad was a very kind man, everyone who met him liked and respected him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved to be surrounded by his family and friends and was always looking for a reason to party. Dad lived life to its fullest. Dad enjoyed spending time with family and friends, building and fixing things, time in his garden and telling stories. Dad will be dearly missed but will be forever remembered. His spirit will live on within each person his life touched. A memorial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at the St. Boniface 8th Floor Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and taking care of Dad over the past seven weeks. We also thank the home care workers over the past months who aided in Dad's care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
