Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD WESLEY ROBINSON, FCA January 4, 1922 - August 4, 2008 With great sadness our family announces the peaceful passing of Howard Robinson on August 4, 2008, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Howie will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Aileen, his brother Glen of Kelowna, and his four children, Larry (Carol), Wes (Laurie), Linda (Ralph), and Donna-Jean. He is also survived by eight grand-children, Chris, Matt, Theresa, Mark, Sara, Lindsay, Joshua, and Brian and recently became a proud great-grampa to Alexandre. He was predeceased by his parents, his infant daughter Susan, his brother Wilf and also his brother Jack, a fighter pilot, who lost his life overseas during the Second World War. Howie was born and raised on a farm near Ninga, Manitoba. He left the farm to pursue a career in Winnipeg. However, in 1944 he volunteered to serve overseas with the RCAF as a navigator on Lancaster Bombers. His crew made 40 operational flights over enemy territory and returned home safely in August 1945. He began his studies immediately after the war and became a Chartered Accountant, a career he was passionate about. Many of his clients became his best friends over the years. He became very involved with the Institute of Chartered Accountants eventually becoming President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba and being awarded his Fellowship in 1972. He also volunteered much of his time to many organizations such as the United Way of Winnipeg, of which he became president in 1975, and subsequently treasurer of the United Way of Canada from 1976 to 1979. In 1945, he met the love of his life, Aileen. They married in 1947. In 1956 they moved to Niakwa Park where they raised their four children and lived for 43 years before moving to Vic Wyatt House in St. Vital. Cremation has taken place and Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 8 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Church, 820 Cottonwood Rd.
