MIRIAM RUTH STOREY Mrs. Miriam Ruth Storey (nee Irving) passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London, on Monday, August 4, 2008. She was born in Scotstown, Quebec 1918, attended school there and moved to Ontario to pursue a nursing career. Miriam graduated from Hamilton General as an R.N. in 1942, was employed as head nurse there until illness forced a career change. After recuperating in California she returned to Hamilton General and then became Matron Coordinator of a new Cerebral Palsy rehabilitation centre. She was married in St. John's in 1953, taught nursing in that city, and moved to Winnipeg with her family where she did general duty at the General Hospital. Throughout her life she was a tower of strength to her husband and family and made many friends in Canada and abroad. She is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Miriam Ann, son-in-law Harry Moffat, grandson Andrew and granddaughter Nicola, all of London, and daughter Patricia, son-in-law Neil O'Brien, grandchildren Maureen and Anna Rose also of London. A memorial service will be conducted at Robinson Memorial United Church, 1061 Richmond Street, London, on Friday August 15, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Miriam are asked to consider the London Health Sciences Foundation - Cancer Centre.
