BERNICE ANN MURDOCH (nee LINKLATER) After a good life, Bernice Ann Murdoch received her wish to continue a life long journey and join her husband and family on July 31, 2008. Bernice has been predeceased by her husband Horace; father George; mother Ethel; brother Laird; sister Margary Gertrude; and sister-in-law Geraldine. Bernice was born June 28, 1912 at Stony Mountain where she was educated and grew into a young lady. She attended St. Boniface School of Nursing and graduated as a R.N. in 1934. Bernice travelled far and wide to practice her profession. It was an exciting time for her travelling to Flin Flon, MB; Warren and St. Paul, Minnesota; and Prince Rupert, BC where she became Superintendent of Nurses. Bernice returned to Winnipeg to continue her profession at the Misericordia Hospital. Here, she was Head Nurse and deeply involved with the education and training of young nurses. Educating and training young nurses became a passion and everyone was one of my students. After retirement Bernice moved to the family farm in Petersfield where she enjoyed gardening, her flowers and fussing over husband Horace. Bernice will be fondly missed. She is survived by nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces as well as many extended family members. At her request cremation has taken place. A family graveside service and internment in the family plot will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cloverdale United Church Cemetery, Cloverdale, Manitoba. This will be followed by a luncheon reception in the church hall. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at the Red River Place Personal Care Home, Selkirk, Manitoba for the exceptional quality care that was given to Bernice during her final years. In lieu of flowers family and friends may make donations in Bernice's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. A prayer: The winds have welcomed you with softness. The sun has blessed you with it's warm hands. You have flown so high and so well, That God has joined you in your laughter. And has set you gently back again Into the loving arms of Mother Earth.
