Anna was born on October 27, 1913 in Lac Megantic, Quebec. She had seven brothers and four sisters, four of which are still living today. At the age of 10 she moved to Saskatchewan to live with her sister Lucia and her parents moved to the Whitemud area in Alberta where they were pioneers to that northern area. She married Adelard Masson (better known as Dil) in Billimun, Saskatchewan on November 12, 1935. They made their home in Oak Lake where they farmed and raised a family of six children one girl, Marguerite and five boys, the twins Don and Ron, Paul, Henri and Ernest. They sold the farm in 1966 and moved to Winnipeg where they retired. The city life was not for them so in 1969 they moved to Ste. Rose to help their son, Paul, farm. They bought a small hobby farm with chickens, pigs and a few cows and went back to the life they were used to. Anna got her first job and her driver's license at the age of 53 and worked in the Ste. Rose Hospital on the children's ward for about 15 years. In 1983, Anna and Dil moved to the Trois Villa where Anna lived for 24 years. Anna was very proud of her 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and was surrounded by their photos in her room at the personal care home. Anna's passing marks the end of the second generation of the Massons in Manitoba. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home and the home care workers that cared for Anna at the Trois Villa. Funeral service was held on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church with Father Paul Tinguely officiating. Evelyn Taylor served as organist and Adele Murray was the soloist. Pallbearers were Lisa Karvelas, Wendy MacIntosh, Bradley Masson, Kevin Masson, Aaron Masson and Dustin Masson. All of her grandchildren were to consider themselves as Honorary Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Anna may be made to the Ste. Rose Hospital Palliative Care or to a charity of one's choice. Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services Ste. Rose Chapel had care of the arrangements.
