RICHARD JOHN GRAVES -
Date of Passing: Aug 05, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD JOHN GRAVES 1955 - 2008 On August 5, 2008 our gregarious angel went home prematurely. Rick always said, I just want to be remembered as a good person . Certainly every soul that had the pleasure of crossing paths with Ricky would agree that he accomplished that. Born in Winnipeg (with a guitar in his hand, we think) growing up in the West End, Ricky's deep childhood friendships endured throughout his life. Rick had exceptional musical talent, playing with countless amazing musicians over the years. Rick married Suzie, they moved to Ontario where their home in Aurora was a safe haven that many friends always enjoyed visiting. Music was played, whiskeys were poured (Ricky style: heavy on the whiskey and light on the coke) and laughter filled the air. After losing Suzie in 2004 Ricky kept himself busy writing and playing music. His amazing guitar collection numbered over 15, most notably his Gretsch and the bass he built from scratch. Ricky's spontaneous nature gave him a passion for road travel, preferably on two wheels. He loved biking and his Harley Dyna Superglide, which he rode with countless fellow friends and riders. Ricky was a genius with a razor sharp wit. His deeply analytical mind gave him the capacity to troubleshoot any problem imaginable. He treasured history and his unique collection of classic antiques. He had no concept of moderation. Ricky was a true male shopaholic whose impulse spending was mostly guided by his intense need to give all he could to his friends. Ricky was deeply thankful for family and friendships, which gave him strength after Suzie's passing. A short while later, in his own inimitable gypsy style, Ricky married Gina and moved to Moosomin, where they created The Boot Hill Ranch. Ricky eventually returned to his stomping grounds in Winnipeg. After the difficult years of being a caregiver to Suzie he was fortunate enough to meet Joni, who became the ultimate caregiver for him. During Rick's brief struggle with cancer he was so thankful that he had a soul mate like Joni by his side. We will be forever grateful to Joni for all that she did for her groovy guy . We wish to sincerely thank the team at Riverview Health Centre. Your compassion, and soulfulness has been appreciated more than words can express. This newspaper does not have enough ink to list all of Ricky's treasured friends. You know who you are. A celebration of Ricky's life will take place Monday, August 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Club, 3459 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers we respectfully request that donations be made to either The Winnipeg Humane Society or Riverview Health Centre. Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul. - Hunter S.
