DORIS KATHLEEN SHIELDS (DEAMEL) Peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2008, Doris passed away at the Pembina Manitou Personal Care Home. Left to cherish her memory are her children Wendy (Jim) Johnson, Dale (Mary Beth) Shields, son-in-law Allan Reimer, grandchildren Camille Meub (Ron Sankar), Darren Dobson (Kerrie), Jennifer Sawatzky (Don), Sara Blais (Alain), Rebecca Rangel (Oscar), Jeremy, Megan Shields and great-grandchildren Alyssa, Evan, Kendra, Dylan, Audrey, Dwight, Emily, Zachary, Gabriella. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, daughter Sandra Reimer, infant daughter, parents Edward and Hazel Deamel and brother Andy. Doris was born in the Archibald District on November 23, 1923. She married Bob Shields on December 15, 1942. After marriage they lived in Hagersville, Ontario where Bob was stationed with the Air Force, after which they returned to the Archibald District until moving to LaRiviere in 1948 where they enjoyed 50 years until moving to Manitou in 1998. Over the years Doris was active in her church where she enjoyed being a member of the choir for many years. She loved to spend time gardening, which was reflected in their beautiful award-winning yard at LaRiviere. She enjoyed the many visitors who dropped in and always seemed to be prepared with her delicious baked goods, preserves, and home cooked meals. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and they, in turn, loved to spend time with her - noted by the Christmas plaque given to her - There's no place like home - except Grandma's . Funeral services will be held at the Manitou MB Church on Monday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Riverside Cemetery in LaRiviere. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pembina Manitou Personal Care Home or the Manitou Palliative Care Program. Arrangements are entrusted to Graham's Funeral Service Ltd. , Manitou, MB.
