Gladys was born Novemer 26, 1920, attended school and spent most of her life in Poplar Point. During the war years she worked in Toronto, met and married paratrooper, Donald Sexsmith and had their first child Donna. After an injury, the couple moved briefly to Poplar Point where Patricia was born. Don then joined the army and was stationed in Churchill where daughter Cece was born. Gladys lost Don to pneumonia in 1953. She then moved the family back to Poplar Point where she raised three daughters on her own and cared for her parents in their later years. She was always an active member of the community. In her retirement years, Gladys moved to Arborg to be closer to family. She was soon actively involved in this community as well. She enjoyed Bingo, playing cards and games with friends and family, doing crafts and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson Josh. Gladys will always be remembered for her kind, gentle spirit, sense of humour and soft spoken demeanor. She will truly be missed by her many friends in Arborg, Poplar Point and especially by her family. We would like to thank all the special people in Mom's life who helped care for her. Thank you to all the home care workers, assisted living staff (Mom's special angels), adult day program workers and volunteers, senior resource workers, hospital staff, personal care home staff and friends and family who lovingly looked in on Mom.
