Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE CATELLIER December 2, 1909 - August 9, 2008 Peacefully, in the early morning hours, Tante Irène left us for her creator. All who knew her will remember her warm smile and her passion for learning and teaching. Tante Irène was a very audacious and curious person who devoted a great part of her life to the field of education. During the Second World War, her passion for teaching brought her to France, Montréal and back to LeMans after the liberation of France. In 1945, she returned to her hometown of La Rochelle to teach for one year in the one room school house . Afterwards, she taught for three years in Headingley and then worked for 14 years as a supervisor of programs in the St. James School Division. Tante Irène always had fascinating stories to share of her travel and teaching experiences. Not to be forgotten is the time and energy so freely given to the Liberal Party, which she so heartily supported. Tante Irène touched many people with her enthusiasm, positive outlook and graciousness. The family wishes to thank Le Repos Jolys for their excellent care and compassion, as well as Irène and Dominique Roy and Gabriel Catellier for their constant support of Tante Irène during her time in St. Malo and St. Pierre. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Malo Church on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. Prayers are at 10:00 a.m. and mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment and reception will follow. LeClaire Brothers in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
