Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARETHA (HARVEY) LAUFERSWEILER 1918 - 2008 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me, the crown of righteousness. ll Timothy 4: 7,8 Peacefully, in her 91st year, mom passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008 at West Park Manor, Winnipeg. Mom fought a good fight to maintain her dignity as strokes caused her health and quality of life to decline. Mom is survived by her daughter Donna Schwark (Wayne), grandchildren Lisa Skrubis (Steve) and Dwight Schwark (Alodia), and great-grandchildren Kara and Chase Skrubis and Steven and Victoria Schwark; and daughter Lenore Loyns, grandson Alain Loyns and his father Al Loyns and Alarey Loyns, mom's great-granddaughter. Surviving her as well are sisters-in-law Betty Harvey, Evelyn Lochhead and brother-in-law Gordon Poersch. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Leonard in 2003, and her parents Phillip and Elizabeth (Toews) Harvey as well as her seven siblings: brothers Phillip, William, Edward, Albert and Fred and her sisters Mae Poersch and Helen Buffie Mom was born in Selkirk, Manitoba but spent her formative years in Gardenton, MB. Wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, mom was all of those. To be called granny especially brought smiles to her face. Mom was a woman ahead of her times. Many people of her generation believed that education was the key to a better, full life and with that belief she would have concurred. But mom would have also added her belief that education especially for women gave them the opportunity to make meaningful choices in their lives. Mom was an imaginative and resourceful seamstress, whether it was a costume or a formal outfit, her outcomes were always remarkable. That desire for perfection was transferred to her role as a Manitoba curler and participant in rural bonspiels. When she could no longer curl, she became an enthusiastic armchair participant. Mom was a 4-H Club leader and a baseball player in her youth. She was employed at the post offices in Gardenton and Winnipeg and at L W Grocery Store in Ridgeville. After dad's passing, Lindenwood Manor became mom's home and there she lived happily and independently until she entered the Victoria Hospital in July 2007. Because of many incredibly caring people, the four years that mom lived at the Manor were full and busy. The list of people to thank is very long but we particularly thank Pat and Janet, two amazing women, two of mom's special friends. Mom's final home was West Park Manor where a team of caring and loving nurses and, health care workers added our mom to their family. There is a very long list of people to whom she and we are appreciative. Marjorie, Donna, Virginia, are thanked many times for their continuous support. A celebration of mom's life will be held Thursday, August 13 at 1:30 p.m. in West Park Manor, 3199 Grant in Charleswood, with Chaplain Perry officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3A 1P6. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
