ELAINE SHERIDAN (ARMSTRONG) With deep sadness the family wishes to announce the passing of Margaret Elaine Sheridan. Elaine leaves behind her dear husband, Ronald, and sons Bruce, Alan and Lorne. She is survived by brothers and sisters Jean Colvin, Keith Armstrong (Doreen), Marjorie Gohl (Ron), Barry Armstrong (Betty), Helen Sizeland, Joyce Kines and Alan Armstrong (Mary). Elaine was born on April 23, 1929, in Carman, Manitoba and was one of 10 children born to her parents Hela and Wilber Armstrong. When she was five years old, the family moved to the Bowsman area. Elaine often talked with great fondness about growing up on the farm, and attending school in a one-room schoolhouse. Following her graduation, Elaine enjoyed working as a permit teacher. Subsequently, she moved to Brandon and took a position with The Imperial Bank. It was here that she met and married Ron, her husband of 57 years. After moving to Fort Frances, Ontario, their sons Bruce and Alan were born. The next move was to Regina, where their third son, Lorne, was born. They moved to Winnipeg in 1966, and after her youngest son started school, Elaine re-entered the work force. After a few years, Elaine was appointed to the position of Secretary-Treasurer of the Norwood School Division. She was an active member of Manitoba Association of School Business Officials. Elaine retired in 1994 after 27 years with Norwood. Elaine was a very outgoing cheerful person who cared about people. She was elected President of the local Kinette Clubs in Fort Frances and Regina. Elaine’s family meant everything to her. She was always there to provide the help, advice, support and love to all of us. A memorial service will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
