GARNET JOHN KIELY June 8, 1937 - August 13, 2008 On August 13, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre, Garnet passed away peacefully with his loving wife and children at his bedside. Garnet is survived by his wife Ruth, brother Peter and sister-in-law Penny, son David (April), daughters Sandra (Scott) and Susan (Laurie). He is also survived by Ruth's son Alex (Kris) and daughter Patty (Darrel) and by his daughter-in-law Pat (Dave). He also leaves his grandchildren to mourn his loss: Mike, Jeff and Andy; Heather and Allison; Matthew; Emily and Devin; Lauren and Edward; Alex Jr., Spencer, Zack, Sandrea and Cooper. Garnet was predeceased by his father Arthur and mother Edna, by his first wife Sylvia and his son Patrick. A celebration of life and Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parish of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church located at 300 Hugo Street North in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Garnet was born in Winnipeg on June 8, 1937 and grew up and was educated in Winnipeg. Garnet had a long career with Manitoba Hydro and retired in 1997 to travel and relax at the family cottage at Balaton Beach which he and the family built up over the years. His recent travel included a visit to Clonmel, Waterford County in Ireland where he was able to connect with family roots. Garnet enjoyed his family and hobbies of fishing, hunting, golf and singing with the Winnipeg Male Chorus. Garnet was a long-time member of the Parish of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church. Garnet will be missed by all who loved him, knew him and enjoyed his company. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made in Garnet's memory to the Parish of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 300 Hugo Street North, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N7.
