LYDIA MERLE FRANCIS (nee DRUMMOND) 1913 - 2008 Peacefully, from complications following hip breakage; it is with regret that we announce the death of Mrs. Francis (also known to friends and co-workers as Frankie or Matron ) on August 12, 2008 at Grace Hospital. She had resided in Winnipeg since 1963, and was in her 96th year. She had worked as a registered nurse since 1941 - with a 10 year interruption - until her retirement in 1985 from her final position as Matron at St. John's-Ravenscourt School. She is survived by son Desmond and wife Sandra; two granddaughters, Lee Francis-McLeod and Leslie Tomlenovich of Edmonton; three great-grandsons, Ronan McLeod and Carter and Luca Tomlenovich; one great-granddaughter Sonia McLeod; and sister Janet Ramsey of Hartney, MB. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at the Hartney Cemetery on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in Hartney, MB.
