Date of Passing: Jul 27, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) THOMAS FREDERICK PEARCE Pearce, William (Bill) Thomas Frederick (1929 --2008) - Bill passed away very peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2008 in Dundas, in the home he shared with Hélène and Anton. Beloved husband of Barbara Mareda Brooks (d.2003); son of William James (d.1954) and Annie Elizabeth Potts (d.1961); brother of Kenneth James (d.1971) and Joyce Rogers (d.1980). Bill was the father of Brook (Joan) of Comox BC; Nancy-Jo (Barclay) Rutherford of Ancaster, ON; and Stacey (Charlie) Young of Winnipeg MB. He also leaves six grandchildren: Braela and Merin, Ryan and Madison, and Chelsey and Shelby. Skilled in mechanics, Bill's career involved travel as an agent for Nasco and Dana, and soon after moving to Winnipeg with his family, he founded Westrans, which manufactured and maintained heavy machinery for industrial and military clients. In 2000, Bill and Barbara returned to Ontario, where he enjoyed his passion for golf, bowling, and sharing a Blue or two with his buddies at Brassie's or Duff's. He spent his last years in the companionship of his dear friends Hélène and Anton. It was Bill's wish that his ashes be interred in the Woodland Cemetery, in the Pearce family plot. Also, he requested that there be no service of any kind. We wish to thank Dr. Michael J. West and the staff of CCAC for the compassionate care they provided. Any gifts to express sympathy should kindly be sent to the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Bill's name. Do not Stand. Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there. I did not die. Mary Elizabeth Frye (1905-2004)
