Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT BALLEGEER June 18, 1945 - August 6, 2008 Peacefully on August 6, 2008, Albert Ballegeer passed away due to heart failure with his family by his side at the age of 63. Albert is lovingly remembered by his three sons, Trevor (Erin), Tristen (Heather) and Troy (Vanessa); grandson Colin; sister Germain (Ted) Thorpe and family; mother Sylvia Bowers; Elaine, the mother of his children. He was predeceased by his parents Jules and Julia Ballegeer; sister Imelda; brother Gerherd and infant daughter Trina. Albert spent most of his career with the Winnipeg School Division Number One as a Fourth Class Engineer and Custodian for over 30 years. His passions included country music, cooking, photography, woodworking and the bible. He was an avid reader and was especially knowledgeable of mammals, birds and geography. He enjoyed the many landscape paintings that hung on his walls alongside cherished family photos, especially those of his grandson Colin who was the pride and joy of his life. Of special note is the care Albert gave to his ailing mother Sylvia Bowers. Albert spent much of his retirement dedicated to providing the best possible environment for Sylvia despite her many physical limitations. The family would like to thank all the homecare staff who assisted Albert in caring for her. The family would also like to extend sincere thanks to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and care. Special thanks and gratitude to all the nurses, doctors and residents who went above and beyond to ensure Albert was comfortable in his final days and for the generous support given to his grieving family. In respect to his wishes, Albert was cremated and interred with his daughter Trina in a private family service. Son, Dad, Grandpa, we will miss you.
