Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARNOLD (ARNIE) WILSON BOYD June 28, 1931 - August 14, 2008 Peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2008, Arnold Wilson Boyd passed away with his family by his side at the St. Boniface Hospital. Arn was born in LaRiviere, MB on June 28, 1931, the son of Keith and Olive Boyd. He was predeceased by his parents and by his first wife Helen Boyd. Arnie is survived by his wife Rose, son Thomas Boyd (Cathy), daughter Cindy Kinley (Neil), stepdaughter Barb Sheldon (Kevin), brother Ronald Boyd (Helga), grandchildren Reed, Kendra and Colin Kinley and many nieces, cousins and friends. Arn spent his early years in LaRiviere following his older brother Ron around. Growing up he loved hunting, fishing and playing baseball. Arn even followed Ron into their chosen field of work, with Manitoba Hydro. He joined the Manitoba Power Commission in 1948 as a lineman. Manitoba Hydro took Arn and his family to Birtle, Neepawa, Tyndall and Portage where he worked as District Assistants and Superintendents. He spent many years at the main Hydro office in Winnipeg and after 38 years with Hydro, retired in 1986 as the Manager of Industrial Labour Relations. Arn's love of the outdoors and fishing brought him to Twins Lakes Beach on Lake Manitoba, where the family spent many wonderful summers at their cottage. He loved the rolling waves on the lake, sailing his catamaran, helping his dad with their monstrous garden and spending time with his brother and his family on their shared lot. After he retired, Arn and Rose travelled Canada and the United States, wintering for a few years in Palm Springs, CA and Winterhaven, FL. They were also regular visitors to Cindy, Neil and their grandchildren when they lived on Vancouver Island and in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley. Their travels around also helped Arn practice his love of golfing on courses far from home. Until he became ill, he had a weekly golf date with friends that took them to courses around Winnipeg. The family would like to thank Dr. Piotr Chaykowski and Denise Klassen at CancerCare Manitoba, the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the staff on 3E at Riverview Health Centre, especially Dr. Garnet Crawford, for their excellent care and kindness. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make donations to the charity of their choice. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
