Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHANNES (JOHN) VIDDAL It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of John Viddal on August 14, 2008 at the Vita Hospital in the arms of family members. He was the beloved son of Johannes and Lorentze Viddal (predeceased) and brother of Kristensa, Jens and Finn (predeceased) and Edny of Floro Norway. John was born in Floro Norway on August 6, 1910, leaving there at the age of 15 years to settle in Sprague where he married Ellen Ringuis (predeceased 1985) and raised a family of five children, Charles (Ruth) (Audrey, predeceased) Lorensa Foy (Gary) Alita Meyer (George, predeceased) Kristensa and Terry (Karen). He was proud of his grandchildren, Kirk, Rae-ann, Brett, Darren, Dan, Matthew, Jennifer, Peter and Jason. He was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, Steven, Dylan, Tyler, Brendan, Bailey, Scott, Laura, Elijah, Joel, Nathaniel and Luke. He will also be missed by his extended family here in Canada, the United States, and Norway. He had a lengthy career with CN Railway and was awarded a 50 year Golden Pass upon his retirement. Most of his spare time was spent operating a small farm to help provide for his family. In later years he was active in the Evergreen Seniors Club where he enjoyed many hours playing pool with his friends. His Norwegian heritage shone through in the beautiful ships he crafted and displayed in his home. He was fond of nature and delighted in the antics of his feathered friends that flocked to his many birdfeeders. John was a quiet and gentle person whose strength and courage, words of wisdom, and love for his family will remain forever in our hearts. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Vita Hospital for their compassionate care, and also the special Sprague people who helped Dad remain in his home until May of this year. Funeral services will be held in the Sprague Community Hall on Wednesday, August 20 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the East Borderland Community Housing Inc., Box 207, Sprague Manitoba, R0A 1Z0 would be appreciated.
