WILFRED H. ERICKSON Peacefully on August 17, 2008 Wilfred Erickson passed away at Red River Place in Selkirk, MB at the age of 89 years. Wilfred was predeceased by his beloved wife Ethel; his parents, Asta and John (Jack); his sister Irene Carswell and brother Clarence. He leaves to mourn sons, John (Karen) and Rob (Sharon); brothers, Lloyd (Mary) and Victor; grandchildren, Neil (Pam), Jeffrey, and Laura; as well as several nephews and nieces. Wilfred was born in Selkirk on January 3, 1919 and Selkirk was home throughout his life. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served overseas for four years. On his return, Wilfred and his brother Lloyd founded Will's Taxi in Selkirk which still exists today under that name. Wilfred retired at the age of 65 as a RCMP dispatcher with the Town of Selkirk. Wilfred's many interests included his numerous trips with Ethel, following the activities of his sons and grandchildren, and the quiet peaceful time he spent reading and walking his dog. He was a good natured man with a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh that led others to laugh with him. His emotional strength enabled him to handle the health challenges he faced at certain points during the last half of his life. With respect for Wilfred's wishes, a private family service has been arranged. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Red River Place Personal Care Home. Your kindness and care is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Selkirk. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
