SONYA FORD Sonya Ford passed peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2008 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, secure in the love of her family and friends. Sonya was a woman of passion, an incomparable spirit both classy and sassy. She loved animals, she loved orchids, she loved clothes, she loved to laugh and entertain, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Sonya's shining spirit will live on forever in her loving husband of 43 years, Ruston Ford; her beloved children, Melanie Ford Wilson (John) and Ruston Scott Ford (Phyllis); her devoted collie companion, Shea; her mother Nellie; her sisters, Verna, Eileen and Cathy; her brothers, Ron and Bob, Doug and Dorothy Ford, Tom and Dallas Goodchild; her ten nieces and two nephews, her amazing network of Iron Women (Elaine Baribeau, Loretta Clarke, and Merilyn Guiney) many other significant friends and her legion of doggie friends at Maple Grove Dog Park who knew her as the Liver Treat Lady . Special thanks must be extended to the fabulous staff at CancerCare Manitoba and tremendous nurses at St. Boniface Hospital who provided completely compassionate care. Services to celebrate Sonya's life will be held on Friday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, a donation made be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or your local Humane Society.
