RONALD MICHAEL GOLEBIOSKI
Born: Jan 22, 1943
Date of Passing: Aug 17, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD MICHAEL GOLEBIOSKI Peacefully, while asleep, Ron passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 65. Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Louise, son Andy (Carrie), daughter Laurie (Dennis), grandchildren Tanner and Dayna, and step-grand-children Delaney, Jesse and Tara. In addition, he will be remembered by his mother Lily, sister Gerry, brothers Carl (Marie), Norman (Jean) and Harold (Joan); brothers-in-law Garry (Gloria), Bernie (Shirley) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Andrew Golembioski and his brother-in-law Larry Grycki. Dad was born in Selkirk on January 22, 1943. He spent his youth on the family farm in Cook's Creek. He enjoyed his career with the CNR as an Electrician and Maintenance Supervisor until his illness prevented him from continuing to work. He was also employed part-time as a Park Patrol Officer at Bird's Hill Park. He and Mom worked a small hobby farm which gave him many years of enjoyment. Dad had a love for music, especially polkas. It could always be heard in the background whether you were driving in the car or sitting at home. In his early years, he was a talented violin player and performed with a band at many social events in the area. He had a passion for motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons, and both he and Mom toured the countryside on their bikes until his illness prevented him from riding. He and Mom enjoyed traveling by planes, trains and automobiles and most recently returned to Barbados to visit friends they made there on a previous holiday. His true talent was his inventiveness and ability to fix things. There wasn't anything Dad couldn't repair, or build. He was often relied upon by family or friends and would always give a helping hand or advice to anyone who needed it. He had a mischievous sense of humour which left a person guessing whether or not he was serious. Over the last 15 years he had been battling with the complications of diabetes and we can only admire his strength and courage in his attempts to overcome these obstacles. There were many doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre and Selkirk General Hospital as well as the Home Care Staff who were involved in his medical care. The family wishes to offer their sincerest gratitude for their tremendous efforts. Without their help, we would not have had as many years with him as we did. A special thank you to the staff at GH4 and GA4 at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion during his final days. A Prayer Service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline Street in Selkirk, Manitoba on Wednesday, August 20 (tonight), 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Cook's Creek, Manitoba on Thursday, August 21, at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Martin Bradbury officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery in Cook's Creek. Pallbearers will be Brian Bodner, Allan Bodner, Jason Grycki, Jason Golebioski, Ed Golembioski and Dennis Link. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3C OS6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Ron and Louise came to visit my late wife (Dianne Marie Cole) and I in November of 1988. They were a wonderful couple. They attended our wedding at the Scottish Rite in Hamilton on November 5, 1988. I recently came across Dianne’s address book and saw Ron and Louise’s names. It brought back a lot of memories. I’m saddened to hear of his passing. He had a wonderful sense of humor. May he Rest In Peace and May the lord bring comfort to Louise and the family. My husband Mike was with the RCMP and stationed in Oakbank in the late 70s. We married in 1979. We both had the pleasure of knowing Ron and Louise throughout that time. We moved away to various places in Canada and recently moved back to Manitoba when we heard of Ron’s passing. We would both like to pass on our deepest condolences to Louise and the rest of the family. Ron was truly one of the Good Guys! We always enjoyed his company! - Posted by: Mike and Gabby Quinn (Friends ) on: Feb 16, 2020
