Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER STASTOOK May 2, 1920 - August 19, 2008 Peter, aged 88 years, beloved and treasured husband of Lena peacefully passed into the loving arms of our Lord at Concordia Hospital. Left to mourn the tragic loss of this wonderful and extraordinary Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather are his sons, Bryan (Susan), Terry (Colleen); daughter Gwen (Mike) Spelliscy; six grandchildren, Paul (Shauna), Todd, Sherri-Lynn (Tim) Banera, Tara, Brett Spelliscy, Erin Spelliscy and two precious great-grandsons, Evan and Noah Banera. He also leaves behind his brother Mike (Frances), Tony (Victoria); sisters, Teenie Dubecki and Helen (Joe) Ewanochko, along with many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Minnie in 1977, his Dad, Mom and brothers, Steve and Bill. Dad spent his early years on the farm in Elma, MB. He married Minnie in 1942, moving to Winnipeg in 1943 where their three children were born. Peter spent 42 years working at People's Co-operative Dairy. He was promoted many times until his retirement in 1985 from the position of Plant Manager and Purchasing Agent. Dad, devastated by the loss of Minnie, went through some very difficult years until he met Lena, marrying her in 1981. She was devoted to him and once again Dad was able to smile, joke and enjoy life. He especially loved family get-togethers whether it was with our immediate family or included the rest of the Stastook clan. Whenever we got together Dad would always start us singing, making wonderful memories for all of us. Dad's special joy and interest was his garden. He and Lena spent many happy hours tending their plants and watching them grow. However, the pride of their garden was always his tomatoes. Dad and Lena particularly enjoyed their winter vacations with family and friends. Dad loved sports and music. He played and coached baseball and hockey and enjoyed watching sporting events. Although Dad never read music, he could certainly play almost any instrument he picked up. His life revolved around his family and he was the center of our world. All of us admired him, respected him and it was an honour to call him Dad. In his own special way he showed each of us his love and how precious we all were to him. He was always ready to listen, to help, to offer advice and support us in any way he could. Prayers at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church (Watt Street and Munroe) on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 22 at the Holy Eucharist Church. Though we cannot evaluate Our Dad, his love, his worth, To us he'll always be just Dad The greatest guy on earth! Rest in Peace. You will live on in our hearts forever. Peter, you were not only my husband but my best friend. Our time together was so precious, so special. Your place on earth no one can fill. I love you Peter and I always will.
