Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT GEORGE STROUD 1931 - 2008 Bob passed away peacefully on August 19, 2008 at the Grandview District Hospital, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Boissevain, Manitoba to parents Doug and Elsie (nee Reid) Stroud. Surviving are his loving wife Sybil of Grandview, Manitoba; son Claire (Kathy) of Roblin, Manitoba; daughter Tannis (Rob) Fortin of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and grandchildren, Bobbi (Rick), Kristyn (Wade), Tyler, Michelle and Kyle, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Bob was predeceased by his parents, four sisters, Hazel, Jean, Doreen and Shirley; and one brother Claire. Bob was employed by M.T.S., retiring in 1988 after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was active in his community, and above all he enjoyed hardball - calling the game for 37 years. Bob was affectionately known as the Voice of the Lakers. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Grandview Masonic Lodge. He was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather; with a good sense of humour and a quick wit, making him the center of all family gatherings. Bob's caring and friendly manner will be missed by many. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview United Church, Grandview, MB. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Memorial Gifts may be made in Bob's memory to the Grandview District Hospital Palliative Care Unit, P.O. Box 339, Grandview, Manitoba R0L 0Y0.
