MURIEL PATRICIA (PAT) SHAPERA (nee MADILL) February 7, 1923 - August 20, 2008 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Pat Shapera. Pat is survived by her children Ted (Lorraine) and Leah (Murray), granddaughters Rachel and Rebecca, step granddaughters Brittany and Vanessa, brother Dr. Jack Madill (Connie), all of her American cousins , and many other good friends and extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Clifford Shapera, sister Betty Kernkamp, and brother James Madill. Pat was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend, known by all as a very warm, generous, and compassionate person who never lost her very dry sense of humor. She devoted her career to teaching school for Winnipeg #1 School Division, where she was very well respected and highly valued as a teacher, mentor and role-model to her students. Following her retirement from teaching, Pat lived in Victoria and later, Vancouver, where she worked as a research assistant at the University of British Columbia. She also worked for the Winnipeg Re-Fit Centre and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Some of the happiest times of her life were spent at Kelwood, Manitoba where she owned and ran the Kelwood Café for several years. It was here that she and many great friends spent numerous summers and holidays. The family wishes to extend their most sincere appreciation to all the staff of the River East Personal Care Home for their very kind and compassionate care. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Thursday, August 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the River East Personal Care Home, 1375 Molson Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donation's may be made to the Hope Haven Neighbourhood at the above address. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
