SIGRUN HJORLEIFSON (nee SIGMUNDSON) 1917-2008 Peacefully on the afternoon of August 21, 2008 Sigrun Hjorleifson aged 90 years, passed away at the Betel Home Foundation, Gimli, MB. Sigrun was born at Hnausa, MB and lived there until she and her husband and son moved to Gimli in the early 1940's. She enjoyed her many friends and relatives and worked at the local convenience store and BC Packers until starting her small hair dressing business. She loved to play the horses, attend bingo games and have coffee with her friends. She is survived by her son Kenneth (Janet) and her two grandsons, Scott (Micheline) and Grant (Susan) and great grandson, Luke. She was predeceased by her husband, Palmi and his two brothers and sister, Oscar (Gladys), Einar (Blanche) and Evelyn (Paul Souder) She was also predeceased by all her brothers and sisters, Fred Sigmundson, Daniel Sigmundson, Marno Sigmundson, Gudrun Martin, Jonina Sigurdson and Fjola Thorvaldson Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Gimli Lutheran Church, 50 - 3rd Ave, Gimli, MB., with Pastor Jaycen Snider officiating. Many thanks to the staff and nurses at Betel Home for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Betel Home Foundation.
