DENA SURES (nee SNITKA) May 19, 1920 - July 30, 2008 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Dena Sures, daughter of Max and Frances Snitka (nee Crystal) at Louie Brier Home in Vancouver. Predeceased by her husband Louis Sures, brother David Snitka, son Harold Sures and daughter-in-law Shirley Robbins. Dena leaves her loving family: daughter Frances Hurwitz, son Don Sures, Velma Snitka, Susan Sures, and grandchildren: Matthew, Ashleigh, Lauren, Stephanie, Carla and Kelly, as well as many other relatives and friends. Dena was born in Calgary but spent her youth in southern Manitoba. She married her loving husband in 1940 living in Carmen, Winnipeg, San Diego and Vancouver. Characterized by her strong love and compassion for family and friends, Dena will also be remembered for her intellect, unwavering optimism and inner fortitude. Her passions in life included: symphonic music, theatre, ballet, various arts and crafts, reading and challenging discussions about philosophies of life and international politics. A funeral service was held at Beth Tikvah cemetery on August 1, 2008. If so desired, donations may be made in Dena's memory to the Canadian Arthritis Society.
