Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT H. OLSEN September 10, 1922 - August 21, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert (Ole) Olsen. Dad leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 58 years Joan; sons, David, Eric (Suzan), Paul, daughter Ada (Rick); grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert), John, Amanda (Joel), Katherine, Laura, Andrea and great-grandchildren, Miles, Brennen, Jack, Chayse and Jayden. Dad was born in Lac du Bonnet but moved to Winnipeg in the early 1940s where he pursued his interest in both Football and Wrestling. He played football for Daniel Mac, the University of Manitoba and in 1943 while serving in the Air Force played in the Grey Cup for the RCAF Blue Bombers against the Hamilton Wildcats. Dad was also very active in amateur wrestling. He won many Manitoba Championships and in 1948 he narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympics in London when he lost in extra time in the final at the Canadian Championships. After his amateur career he wrestled professionally for a few years before joining the Winnipeg Fire Department where he worked for over 38 years before retiring in 1987. Dad's greatest love in his life was his family of whom he was very proud. He delighted in any of their accomplishments. In later years he got great joy out of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. The family has held a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.

I had the opportunity to meet with Mr Albert Olsen and play Junior Hockey with his son Eric. He did a lot in his Life as athlete, his Professional work, his Labor skills, family and over all Fitness and enthusiasm for Life. Not only was he competitive but he brought a common sense to the equation. - Posted by: Doug R. hall (Played Junior Hockey with Son Eric and some Golf) on: Apr 30, 2015

Dear Olson Family: Billy attended Albert's funeral but unfortunately I was not able to so I wanted to express my sympathy to you in the passing of a wonderful man. I didn't know Albert really well but he was definitely unforgettable. He was the kind of person who made me feel like I had known him my whole life. He always had a twinkle in his eyes and some comment that always made me laugh. I also have a memory of him and Hazel on the dance floor and it made me think how wonderful it was to see so much love between two people who have been married as long as they were. I know through Billy that he was an exceptionally generous individual and that he loved his family very much. He definitely made the world a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I'm certain you have some very special memories to help bring you peace. Hugs, Wendy Morrissey - Posted by: Wendy Morrissey () on: Aug 15, 2014
