Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) SLATER RITCH Peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2008, Bob passed away at the Misericordia Hospital. Bob was born in the Orkneys on April 14, 1913, He immigrated to Winnipeg with his parents in 1919. He served in Second World War as a photographer with R.C.A.F. He married Jessie Jackson, (who predeceased him in 1995) in 1951. Together, they enjoyed a great variety of activity, archery, skiing, music, stamp collecting and cats. The love of their life was dancing; Ballroom, Latin American, Pattern, or Square Dancing. Bob was a Square Dance caller, and Jessie, as the Callers wife . They spent many happy years in Winnipeg, and Harlequin, Texas, in the dynamics of music and dance. Bob and Jessie taught Pattern dancing at Stradbrook Senior Centre for many years, and Bob carried on until March 2004 when he was 88 years of age. Bob was an Honorary member of the University Women's' club, Hand Bell Choir. He will be sadly missed by his dancing friends, special friends, Bernice and Jane, as well as all those who knew him. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. with Rev. Sharon Wilson officiating. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Misericordia General Hospital Foundation Inc., 99 Cornish Ave. Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9, or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3. I only discovered Robert today when following his family line down from his GG Grandfather Oliver Craigie. He sounds like he was a lovely man. Condolences to family members. We are sorry to hear of the passing of our Uncle and Brother-In-Law, Bob. He will always be remembered for his hospitality, kind and gentle ways.
