Date of Passing: Aug 23, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE CLIFFORD MALLETTE It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, George Clifford Mallette, on August 23, 2008 at St. Pierre Hospital at the age of 78 years. George was predeceased by father Clifford and mother Yvette. He is survived and missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Marie; daughters, Donna (Douglas Bradley), Judie, Kelly and Mikki (Robin Grouette); grandchildren, Brett and Kayla Dreger, Christopher Bradley, Allison and Sarah Grouette. Born May 26, 1930, George grew up and terrorized the Norwood neighborhood with good buddies Frank Leslie and Ken Dryden. George took over the family business, C.M. Flooring, which he operated successfully with his Uncle Joe for 30 years. George was very active in the sporting community, quarterbacking the St. Vital Bulldogs to a Canadian Championship. He also played with the Warren Mercurys Hockey Club for 10 years and the Winnipeg Olympics Lacrosse Team. Later in life he helped develop the Lorette Community Club sports programs. George loved his time in the Whiteshell with his family at their Brereton Lake cottage. He later retired to Betula Lake with Marie, where they spent hours riding on the trails on their snowmobiles. His working career ended with many happy days riding his tractor at the Jessica Transfer Station. George's family life was filled with laughter and many adventures and the occasional mishap. He will be sadly missed by all. There will be no funeral service but the family welcomes you to drop by and celebrate his life at Pioneer Hall, St. Adolphe Community Club on Tuesday, August 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Mari Burnett, the E.M.S. Services and the entire staff at St. Pierre Hospital. Special thanks to Michelle, Jennifer, Trudy, Johane, Ashley, Sandra and Judy for their special attention and kindness. Respecting George's love of his dogs Buddy, Muffy, Shaz, Sam and Dudley (and those cats!), donations may by made in his memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
