Henry was born in Neuendorf, Ukraine, and after many difficult wartime experiences immigrated to Canada in 1948. Throughout the rest of his life, he was grateful to God for being brought to this great country of peace and freedom. In 1950, he married Katie, his true lifelong love, dear devoted partner and best friend. Henry's steadfast faith in God, was one of the immovable foundations of his life. He will always be remembered for his calm, patient and friendly manner and his sense of humour. He spent most of his working life in the industries of building furniture. He was a very valuable, hard-working employee who was sought out by his co-workers and management for his innovative ideas and problem solving skills. Creating and building were among Henry's many talents and interests. Beautiful carvings, fine furniture or structures like a bungalow or cottage are legacies to his handiwork. He enjoyed camping with the family, spending time at the cottage, traveling, and offering a helping hand to those in need. In his retirement years, he also indulged in his love for family history and genealogies with research and writing. The family would like to thank Dr. H. Neufeld and Ann Ediger for their compassion and care during Henry's time of illness. Viewing will be held on August 28th at 7:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Chapel, 2146 Main St., Winnipeg.
