EDWARD STRUSS Peacefully at Beausejour Hospital with his family at his side, Ed passed away on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the age of 91 years. He leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years of marriage, Augusta (nee Kurbis); his one son Rod Struss (Lisa) of Ladywood; two daughters Ruth Bain (Graham) of Winnipeg and Barbara Hunt (Calvin) of Newfoundland; eight grandchildren Laurie Boudreau (Pierre), Tim Hastman (Crystal), Leslie Hastman (Tyler), Cali Joi Hunt, Karli and Corey Struss, Ronald and Roxanne Sugden; two great-grandchildren Katrina and Erik Boudreau; brothers William Struss of Beausejour and Paul Struss (Helen) of Detroit; sister-in-law Anne Struss of BC; sister-in-law Anne Trapp of Beausejour and brother-in-law Roy Pokrant of Rosenfeld MB. Also numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he loved very much. Dad was predeceased by his parents John and Anastasia Struss; brothers Joseph (Mary), Stanley (Sophie), Frank, Andy (Rooney), Peter (Millie), John (Anne); sisters Kay Underwood (Greg) and Mary Labossiere (Leopold); sister-in-law Ada Struss also numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Dad was born on February 22, 1917 in Ladywood, Manitoba and spent the majority of his life there, enjoying his passion of farming. Later on, he worked at the Manitoba Rolling Mills in Selkirk where he made many friends. Dad was an avid drummer and many people were entertained by the music of his bands. He enjoyed going on night Patrol with the Beausejour Citizens on Patrol Program as well as volunteering at the Beausejour Brokenhead Heritage Museum. Dad was a soft spoken kind gentleman who loved children and animals. He enjoyed helping others, never expecting anything in return. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him. Ed's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, 403 1st Street N., Beausejour, MB, with Pastor Stan Richards, presider. Flowers gratefully declined.
