Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET JEAN BATCHELOR (nee GUSTAFSON) It is with great sadness that Margaret's family announces her passing on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Norman and her siblings Walter, Thelma, Ralph, Eric and Roy. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Ruth, children Bryon (Helene), Carol Dundas (Angus), Rick (Cheryl), and Laird (Janet). She leaves six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Gretna, MB on June 30, 1923 to John and Anna Gustafson and grew up in Gretna and Cyprus River, MB. After graduation she moved to Winnipeg, starting her working career at MTS as an operator. She later worked at Eaton's Sales Audit, the YMCA, Bergen Agencies, and the family favourite, an Ice Cream shop. She and Norm were married in 1946 and they were blessed with 50 wonderful years together. Mom and dad enjoyed travelling and camping with their young family. They introduced us to many parts of Manitoba and Canada. They were proud of Winnipeg and Manitoba and enjoyed showing visitors the sights of their chosen home. Mom had great memories of travel. She enjoyed her cruise to Alaska. She followed baseball and curling and any sport or activity that her grandchildren were involved. She loved a good game of cards. She was active in her community as a volunteer at the YMCA, her children's schools and at Bronx community club and various charities. Most of all family was everything to Mom. It was important to be together and she made that happen. She was always there for us helping anyway she could. She had so much love and hugs to give. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother touching each of her grandchildren's lives in special ways. She delighted in seeing her great-grandchildren. In recent years she most enjoyed sitting quietly and listening to the talk and laughter of her expanding family when we often gathered. Mom and dad lived in the same house for 50 years and we were fortunate to grow up in a close and caring neighbourhood. Mom was a member of John Black Church and in later years Good Neighbours. She was a fun-loving person who made friends wherever she went. The family wish to thank the staff of St. B 5E for their care and compassion in mom's last few days. We'd also like to thank the staff and her friends at Kildonan House who have enriched her life these past six years. She will be greatly missed. We were loved. Service will be held at St. Stephen's Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave. on Friday, August 29 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to the charity of your choice.
