WALTER TROWSDALE It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Walter Trowsdale on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Arlie and children James (Peggy), Sharon (Brian) Bencharski, Kim (Jamie) Hay and Kelly (Darren) Farr. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Megan, Ian and Allison Hay; Caitlyn and Matthew Farr; three step-grandchildren Kim (Dave) Overton; Dan (Melanie) Chegus and Meghan Chegus and three step-great-grandchildren Noah, Lisa and Emily Overton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Artimas and Annie, brother Chesley, sisters Alice and Anne. Walter was born in Winnipeg on February 12, 1924. He was raised in Hadashville, Manitoba on the family farm. He enlisted in the Army during The Second World War and was stationed in Halifax with the Medical Corps. After being discharged in 1945 he did various jobs before starting a career in the forestry service with Manitoba Natural Resources. It was at this time he met and married the love of his life, Arlie Norris on September 1, 1951. Throughout his 34 year career span with the Provincial government, he was stationed in various locations within South-eastern Manitoba until his retirement in 1983. Following his retirement, mom and dad now had more time to travel. They enjoyed a trip to the east coast with their dear friends Carole and John Hreno as well as several road and bus trips throughout the United States. A true outdoorsman, dad was his happiest when he could be working in his yard or puttering around in his garage. His birdfeeders were never empty. There was nothing dad enjoyed more than having his family around him. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him and he meant the world to us. Dad was a quiet, proud, kind man who would rather be on the sidelines than in the spotlight and it was these qualities that earned him numerous lasting friendships throughout his lifetime. Respecting dad's wishes, a private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or the CNIB.
