RAYMOND RUSSELL DEMERY It is with profound sadness, that on August 29, 2008, with his wife at his side, Ray passed away at 72 years of age. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jean (nee Shewaga), daughter Valerie Rebeck (Randy), son Bradley (Karen), and grandsons Jordan and Ryan Rebeck (Amber). The youngest of five boys, Ray was predeceased by Merlin Drohomereski (Mary), but is survived by his brothers Emil (Florence), Ernie (Marion), and Stanley (Violet). Also mourning his loss is his loving Christian family of the East St. Paul Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, along with many others whose lives he touched by his many acts of kindness. Ray was born on April 14, 1936, in Pleasant Home, MB. He moved to Winnipeg in 1953 where together with his wife Jean he eventually raised the family. Ray worked for 42 years for what became known as State Contractors, where he earned the nickname Papa Ray. He enjoyed overseeing projects in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Thompson, and Nassau, Bahamas. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Ray was fortified by his strong hope in the resurrection mentioned at Acts 24:15. He also was fond of the verse at Job 14:14, 15 which describes the need to fulfill our compulsory service in the grave until we receive the gift of everlasting life.Rom. 6:23 A Memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall Centre of Jehovah's Witnesses, 227 Lakewood Drive, Winnipeg, on Monday evening, September 1 at 7:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff of GA4 at the HSC for their compassion, especially during Ray's final days. Flowers are graciously declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Watch Tower, Box 4100, Halton Hills (Georgetown), ON, L7G 4Y4. Do remember for me, O my God, for good Neh. 5:19 To place On-line condolences or to light a memorial candle please logon to www.mosaicfunerals.ca. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Jean: Our hearts, prayers, and love are with you and the kids at this time. I cannot express how wonderful it was to meet both of you and spend time with you when you visited Ursula prior to our wedding. You both made Lloyd and I feel very loved and very welcomed. I am grateful for the brief interlude that we had. We know that we will meet up with Ray again, and we will be able to continue our relationship. The time is short, and the new system will be here. We are here for you. - Posted by: Lloyd and Sharon Eckmire (Family) on: Sep 02, 2008
