Became lifelong friend and husband to Ingeborg Haucke since 1938. From farmhand stucco/brick worker, owner of a fishing boat, telegraph lineman to the Dept. of Highways (Hadashville, MB.) With a hopeful heart, courage, much determination and a spontaneous humor, Dad took Mom and five kids across the Atlantic Ocean to Canada in May 1957. Docking in Halifax, then traveling to Portage, MB by coal train. Settling in East Braintree, MB (45 years) returning to Portage (2000) where Dad finished life by putting up a long valiant battle against cancer. Dad will be remembered for his reminiscent story telling, a hot cup of coffee was readily shared, aiding many in need (even risking his life to feed others in The Second World War and his unswerving faith in the promises of earth's restoration. Two of Dad's favourite scriptures were Psalm 37:11, 29 and Revelation 21:4,5. Hans was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters in Europe. Left to mourn are his devoted wife Inge, and six children; Johan (Diane), Rona, Jytte (Jack) Johnston, Djon (Janic), Henning (Crystal) and Marianne, 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (soon 18). Also several who adopted Dad as a father/grandfather and a close friend Adrien Henry.
