STEVE LECHMAN December 22, 1914 - September 2, 2008 It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Steve Lechman who passed peacefully in his sleep on September 2, 2008 at the Concordia Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Mary, brother Joseph Lechman and sister Mary Storozuk, Steve leaves to mourn his passing his children, Irene Balaban, Stella (Danny) Sichewski and Ron (Susan) Lechman; seven grandchildren and their families, Rick Balaban, Bill (Corrine) Balaban, Marisa (Andrew Gardner) Balaban, Kyle (Erin) Sichewski, Ryan (Jolene Rousset) Sichewski, Jennifer (Rob) Hochkievich, Scott (Barb) Lechman and many great-grandchildren; his sisters Katherine Pylypowich, Anne Novak and brother George Lechman and many nieces and nephews. Steve was a proud, fiercely independent man who lived at his home until just one week before passing. He loved nature and cared for his pet cat Tara, the birds and squirrels. Prayers will be held on Sunday evening, September 7 at 8:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral, Chapel 1800 Day St. Funeral service to follow on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. also at the chapel with Rev. Fr. Michael Krochak officiating. Interment at Transcona Cemetery. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
