JEAN HELEN COONEY (nee VAN BRUNT) August 27, 1914 - September 3, 2008 Peacefully on September 3, 2008 Great Gram passed away at the Misericordia Health Centre. She is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her daughter Joyce Laliberte and husband George (Kelly), granddaughters Nicole (Shawn) and Christine (Tom) and her great-grandchildren Steven, Shayne, Devon, Kelly and Darien. Jean was predeceased by her husband Bill and by her brothers Charlie, Frank and Bill and her sister Hazel. Great Gram was born in Elkhorn, MB and except for time in Barrie, Ont. during the war years, spent all her life in Winnipeg. She was kindhearted, loving and always put others first. Throughout her life she was fiercely independent and determined to overcome all obstacles. Her greatest enjoyments were having her family around her, summers at the lake, watching sports on T.V. (particularly hockey), knitting, reading and puzzles. She also had a great love for music. Our family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of the 5th floor, Misericordia Health Centre for their exceptional care and kindness during Great Gram's stay there. A special heartfelt thank you to Del Johnston for her wonderful support and her kindness to Great Gram. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Great Gram's life will be held on Sunday, September 7 at the Neil Bardal Inc. Funeral Home, 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance.
