RICHARD (DICK) DAVID JOHNSON 1951-2008 On August 31, 2008, Richard Dick David Johnson passed away in his sleep at home. He leaves to mourn, his children, Jason (Eileen), Belinda, Ira, Alexander and stepson Sheldon, his partner Susan, brothers Alfred and John, sister Gloria and grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Richard was predeceased by his father Alex and mother Rose Johnson, brothers Luke, Norbert and Tommy, sister Angeline and granddaughters Celeste and Raven Sky. Traditional wake services were held at the Ginew School on the Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation. Funeral services have taken place on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 with internment at the Roseau Rapids Reserve. Lawrence Henry conducted the traditional funeral ceremonies at the request of the family. Dad was a very kind and loving person who did not hesitate to provide for the needs of his family, friends and community. Richard Dick Johnson was a generous person, giving back to the community in the capacity of Band Counsellor, Community Planner, Ginew School Maintenance Supervisor. Words can never explain the numerous acts of kindness and generosity that he demonstrated while on Mother Earth as only the Creator will ever understand.
