GLADYS LEORA GOODWIN (nee MCBURNEY) Passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the age of 96. Mom (Nanno) was an impressively vibrant, intelligent, creative and deeply loving individual. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Mom was born in Coronach, SK on April 15, 1912 during the sinking of the Titanic. She was the sixth child, first daughter, and last surviving member of a family of 12 children born to William and Thirza McBurney. Mom loved to sing and act. She felt very welcomed into the Choristers Choir at McClure United Church and performed in many skits at McClure Place. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, quilting, playing the piano, painting, reading and baking. The loss of her vision due to macular degeneration did not stop her from enjoying life to its fullest. She especially loved to travel, spending many winters in Brownsville and Weslaco, Texas. This most recent July and August, she travelled to Manitoba and later to Vancouver and Hudson's Hope, BC, visiting family and friends all along the way. Her robust sense of humour, ability to laugh at herself, and sensitive listening ear endeared her as a treasured friend and matriarch to her family. She is survived by her children Vivian (Bill) Wolaniuk, of Neepawa, MB, Leora (Jim) McKinny of Saskatoon, SK, Mervin (Heather) Goodwin of Hudson's Hope, BC, George (Mickey Rear) Goodwin of Revelstoke, BC, daughter-in-law Ann Goodwin of Portage la Prairie, MB, and sister-in-law, Rose McBurney of Saskatoon, SK, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Goodwin in 1974 and by her son, Clarence Goodwin in 1988. A funeral service will be held in Neepawa, MB on Monday, September 8, 2008 p.m. at White's Funeral Chapel followed by interment at Neepawa Riverside Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held at McClure United Church on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made either to McClure Place, 1825 McKercher Dr., Saskatoon S7H 5N5 or McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor St., Saskatoon, SK S7H 5N7.
