JOYCE MYRTLE SIMPKIN June 1, 1949 - September 2, 2008 Peacefully surrounded by her family, Joyce Myrtle Simpkin at the age of 59 passed away in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Joyce will sadly be missed and lovingly remembered always by her husband of 38 years, Terry and daughter Kerri, father John Bowack, sister Linda Ranger (Al), brother-in-law Richard Simpkin (Caroline); nephews, Jeff (Kristen), Kris (Rhea); nieces, Lisa (Brian), Kim (Guido), Tracy (Steven), Christina, Katherine (Andrew). Joyce will also be missed by her furry friends Chloe, and Shasta. Joyce was predeceased by her loving mother Myrtle Bowack on March 19, 2000, brother-in-law Walter Simpkin on May 20, 1984. Born on June 1, 1949 in St. Boniface, Joyce married Terry on April 25, 1970, and their journey began. Joyce started her working career with CP Rail, Grain Group on September 9, 1968 and retired April 1, 2006. Another significant milestone in Joyce's life was the safe arrival of their daughter Kerri in April 1980. Joyce loved many of the finer things in life. She took great pride in ensuring all of her perennials bloomed in time with the changing of the sun. Cooking and baking was a pastime and became an art that she prided herself on. So much that some of those special secrets and recipes have left with her. In respect of Joyce's wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of celebration will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Anglican Church, 253 Burrin Avenue, West Kildonan with Reverend Simon Blaikie officiating. A private interment to follow at a later date. In deepest appreciation and gratitude for your emotional support and acts of kindness and compassion demonstrated to Joyce, Terry, Kerri and family throughout her illness, we thank you Tammy Lee, Patti Findlay, Sherrie, Kim, Val, Terry, Clare, and all the Doctor's and Nursing Staff on the 8th Floor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, or to the Winnipeg Humane Society in honor of Joyce.
