MARJORIE EILEEN FISHER 1920 - 2008 It has been our greatest gift to have loved and been loved by Marjorie who left us peacefully on September 4, 2008 at the age of 87 years. She will be held forever in the hearts of her son David and daughter-in-law Kathy, granddaughter Laura and Eric of Winnipeg; her daughter Carole (Aylard) and Marty and grandsons Andrew and Evan of Dartmouth, NS. Marj will also be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her brother George and Jeanette Fish of Westbank, BC, and nephews Derek Fish (Dianne), Jim Fish (Nancy), Stan Fisher (Irene) and Brian Fisher (Joyce) and their families, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Fred Fisher, and her parents George and Laura Fish. Marjorie was born in Moose Jaw and many are the stories told of singing in the choir at St. Michael All Angels, drama productions with the Anglican Young People's Assoc., Regina Beach, Kresge's and Eaton's and the many who found a home away from home around the Fish family dinner table and piano. Marj and Fred began their life together in Moose Jaw in 1947 and as a railroad family, lived in Regina, Saskatoon and Edmonton before finally settling in Winnipeg. In each city she was active in their local church and gathered friends whom she cherished all her life. In Winnipeg, Marj and Fred joined the Parish of St. Bartholomew's at its founding and were active members for 48 years. Marj wore many hats over those years including Director of the Junior Choir, organist, and Anglican Church Women member. Most recently she was the coordinator of Sidespeople, and a volunteer at Winnipeg Harvest and the Vacation Bible School. Each task was greeted with a sense of joy and a passion for serving side by side with her parish family, many of whom were her closest friends. It was with six of her friends from St. Bartholomew's that a sewing club was started. Through all of life's ups and downs this group has remained as dear friends. Marj cherished each and every friend as one of her greatest gifts. Among Marjorie's many loves was her garden and the joy she received from nurturing it was immense. Following Fred's retirement, Marj and Fred travelled extensively and volunteered for more than 20 years with Meals on Wheels. Mom also greatly enjoyed her friendships with the CNR Ladies Club and their many outings. Above all, Marjorie's greatest joy was her family, both near and far and she was especially proud of her grandchildren. We celebrate her life and honour her love, her joy and her example. Her spirit lives on in all who called her Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Mom's favourite way to say goodbye was God Bless so God Bless, Mom until we meet again. A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 9 at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood Drive. The family wishes to thank the staff in emergency and on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital for their loving care of both Marjorie and her family and offer their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has upheld the family with their gifts of love, prayers and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bartholomew's Memorial Fund or the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund both care of St. Bartholomew's, 881 Autumnwood Drive.
